CSIL implemented a medium term forecasting observatory on global furniture production. Five-years forecasts are provided for furniture production at a global level, by main geographical areas and for the main manufacturing countries. The analysis, which is conducted both at an aggregated level and for the main furniture sub-segments, highlights the main factors affecting production, international trade, market conditions and countries competitiveness in the global context. Dedicated focus on material choices and preferences, product design and sustainability are also included. The research work is based on statistical data processing and econometric modelling, interactions with the main sector stakeholders and on a bi-annual large survey to over 250 furniture manufacturers. Forecasts are updated on a quarterly basis.
