Since the 2000s, CSIL has been monitoring furniture manufacturing clusters existing worldwide. The report “Furniture manufacturing clusters: a worldwide survey”, updated in 2007, 2010 and 2014, offers an overview of 44 structured manufacturing clusters and less institutionalised manufacturing areas for the furniture sector worldwide. In the most recent update of this research (“Successful furniture clusters: a global perspective”, 2014), CSIL collected updated data to map and analyse successful furniture manufacturing clusters. The study comprised a literature review concerning the cluster models, an online survey to cluster organisations, statistical data collection and analysis, interviews with stakeholders. The output was a set of 30 summary sheets on clusters features and trends.
