Giorgio Fuà (1919 - 2000) was an acknowledged Italian economist. Born from a Jewish family in Ancona, he fled to Switzerland where, in 1940, he obtained the Doctorat en Droit-mention en économie politique at the University of Lausanne. From 1941 he started working with Adriano Olivetti and worked as a consultant at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. In 1955 he joined ENI as Enrico Mattei's economic advisor, and in 1967 he founded the ISTAO (Adriano Olivetti Institute of Economics and Business Management Studies) in Ancona.
His main research interests included local development, small and medium enterprises, industrial districts.
