This research investigated the size and characteristics of the Urban and Public spaces furniture (benches, litter bins, bollards etc) market in a selection of Western European countries. The methodology relied primarily on a wide field data collection: over 100 interviews were carried out with urban furniture producers, distributors, sector associations, as well as an online survey targeting landscape architects. This research depicted this niche market, estimating for each of the analyzed countries the size of urban furniture consumption, import penetration, the market shares of major companies, production. The report investigated how distribution works in the sector, and how urban furniture products and the urban furniture industry is changing in the European landscape.
