CSIL conducted comprehensive research on the demand for sustainability within the mattress supply chain, focusing on the preferences of consumers, mattress manufacturers, and component suppliers (particularly polyurethane foam). CSIL developed a structured questionnaire to explore the significance of sustainability in mattress purchasing and production decisions, the criteria used to evaluate product sustainability, and the willingness to pay for various sustainable options (such as recycled content, bio-based materials, and CO2 reduction). This questionnaire was distributed to over 2,000 European consumers and more than 100 industry stakeholders.
